Raipur, 18 June. A Maoist camp was busted after an encounter between DRG jawans and Left-Wing ultras in the area bordering Bastar and Sukma districts of Chhattisgarh today. The gunfight that claimed the life of a woman guerilla took place between the hills of Chandameta and Kumakoleng. Bastar IG Sundarraj P confirmed.
IG Sundarraj said that there was a tip-off about the presence of a group of Maoists belonging to the Kanger Ghati Area Committee in Chandameta, Patelpara, Gadmepara, Andalpara, Tulsi Dongri, and Payarbhat in the areas bordering Bastar and Sukma. DRG team from Bastar and Dantewada, District Police Force Sukma, 80th battalion of CRPF 80th and 227th battalion were sent to conduct an anti-Naxal operation.
A gunfight broke out between Maoists and Bastar DRG when jawans were carrying out a combing operation between in forest between Chandameta and Pyarbhant this morning, Sundar Raj said. Cops recovered the body of a woman Maoist with an AK-47 rifle, two pistols, 12 bore guns, a Bharmaar (muzzle loading) gun, and a huge quantity of material used in setting up a Maoist camp after the encounter was over. A massive search operation was carried out in the surrounding area afterward, Bastar IG said.
