Raipur, 25 July. Whispers of change of guard in Chhattisgarh took a vitriolic turn on Saturday night with Congress MLA Brihaspati Singh from Health Minister Singhdeo’s pocket borough claimed he was attacked at the behest of Singhdeo for voicing support for Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. An FIR has been registered under sections 341,186, 294,506,353 and sections of the Atrocity Act against Sachin Singhdeo who is a close relative of the health minister, and two others.
MLA Brihaspati Singh, while giving the details of the incident said that some vehicle riding youth chased his follow-vehicle when it was trying to reach motorcade near Sanjay Park. They stopped the car at the local Bengali Chowk, snatched the keys, and misbehaved with the Jawans guarding him, he claimed. The MLA later on Sunday went on to allege that he was being attacked at the behest of Singhdeo and that the minister can get him killed.
MLA also claimed that the abusers were also inquiring about him during the vandalism. A complaint has been lodged with the Kotwali police station after this incident. IG Ratan Lal Dangi and Ambikapur SP Captain Amit Kamble also headed for the police station immediately.
An FIR has been lodged by one of his aides Sudarshan Singh under sections 341,186, 294,506,353, and sections of the Atrocity Act against Sachin Singhdeo, Dhanno Oraon, and Sandeep Rajak. It has been told in the FIR that Sachin Singh got infuriated after being overtaken by the follow-vehicle.
The MLA however, tried to paint the incident as an act of political vendetta against him for his alleged voice of support for Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel who is at loggerheads with Health Minister T S Singh Deo over 50-50 power-sharing formula. The tribal MLA sensationalized the trivial road rage by terming it as an act of political vendetta prompting the soft-spoken Sarguja scion in the fire-fighting mode.
Health Minister Singh Dev spoke to SP Captain Kamble when he came to know about the incident. “The incident is not acceptable under any circumstances. I have told the SP that action should be taken as per what the law says,” he said.
Baghel camp has been trying all out to woo more and more MLAs to swear their allegiance to CM camp soon after he was ascended to the top job after an alleged compromise formula reached between him and his rival Singhdeo in December 2018. More than 45 out of 68 Congress had rallied behind Singhdeo when hectic lobbying was on for the post of CM between Baghel and Singhdeo. CM Baghel and his associates have been making endeavors since then to eat into the support Singhdeo enjoys among the party MLAs. Brihaspati Singh, the MLA from Ramanujganj who defeated BJP heavyweight Ramvichar Netam, along with Food and Civil Supplies Minister Amarjeet Bhagat is considered close to Baghel.
